    Edit an authorisation

How to edit the details of an authorisation including your email address.

    Published 7 August 2025

    Who can edit an authorisation

You can edit the authorisation of a representative if you’re a principal authority or authorisation administrator.

If your own authorisation needs to be edited (excluding updating your email address), contact a principal authority or authorisation administrator. For example, if you require access to a government online service you are not authorised for.

    How to edit an authorisation

    To edit an authorisation:

    1. Log in to RAMExternal Link
    2. Select View or manage authorisations, machine credentials and cloud software notifications.
    3. Select the business name associated with the user.
    4. Select Edit next to the authorised user.
    5. The edits you can make depend on the status of the authorisation.

Pending – You can edit the user’s name, email address, authorisation start date, authorisation administrator or machine credential administrator status, and agency permissions.

Accepted (with a future start date) – You can edit the start date, end date, authorisation administrator status, machine credential administrator status and agency permissions.

Active – You can edit the end date, authorisation administrator or machine credential administrator status and agency permissions.
    6. Select Continue.
    7. Accept the declaration and select Submit.
    8. A confirmation message will appear, select Continue.

Change a Basic user to a Standard user

To change the authorisation of a Basic user to a Standard user, the authorisation needs to be removed first. Once removed, create a new authorisation for the representative.

    Update your email address

Once you’ve accepted an authorisation request in RAM and its status is active, you can update your email address. You can have different email addresses listed for each authorisation you have which can be updated individually.

Keeping your email address in RAM up to date helps ensure you receive notifications about your authorisation such as renewal reminders.

How to update your email address

    1. Log in to RAMExternal Link
    2. Select View or manage authorisations, machine credentials and cloud software notifications.
    3. Select View next to the appropriate business.
    4. Select Update email address.
    5. Enter your new email address and select Send email – use a business email address that only you have access to and check regularly.
    6. You will be sent a verification code to the new email address - enter the code and select Verify.
    7. You will receive confirmation that your email address has been successfully updated.
